There seems to be a myth going on around stating Yoga can only
calm ourselves, keep us healthy and energetic, but that’s not it. A large
number of people believe that for weight reduction, yoga is not the
appropriate option.
Which is not true!! Yoga absolutely helps in weight loss and toning of
the body. Yoga is a complex combination of asanas, pranayamas, relaxation
and meditation. Most asanas helps in flexibility, strengthening, reduction of
fat and helps burn calories faster.
According to Yogic science the ideal human weight is supposed to
fall into the type of body one has (Kafa, Vata & Pita), and that one’s own
body and mind should not become a restriction for oneself. That means a
healthy human must do yoga, enough physical activity and include healthy
diet everyday.
Yoga for weight loss
Why losing weight is so difficult and how can we change that?? First,
let’s focus on inculcating a healthy lifestyle all together. Which involves small
changes like waking up early, doing a little self-care like yoga, meditation, walk
in nature, including healthy fresh veggies and fruits on diet, including nuts and
millets every week, having proper sleep and working on our goals. Do not focus
solely on reducing weight, this will bring unnecessary stress. Get yourself busy
on building a healthy life, and trust me, everything else will fall in its place.
Healthy diet
According to ancient Indian Sages, including fresh vegetables, fruits,
green leafy veggies, nuts, millets, lentils provides us with a complete stock of
vitamins, minerals and protein necessary for a human body. This will help the
mind and body work at its maximum potential. Consciously choosing this diet
will change your life in an unexpected way from inside.
And now we do yoga !!
Now that we have taken care of the diet, we must mandatorily include
yoga every day. Yoga involves complex postures and relaxation at the same
time, which also involves breathing, i.e; at one moment you might be into an
intense posture, the next moment you find yourself relaxing, and again the next
moment- intense posture and then again relaxing. This goes on, and that
makes yoga applicable for all ages. This process itself generates enough heat
and pressure to reduce cholesterol across body and flushes the toxins out. Not
only that, you’ll find your body getting toned within few weeks into the session.
